🧬 Behind the Scenes: What We’re Doing This Week Preparing for Our Next Generation of Littles Before there are puppies, there’s a lot of planning, testing and science happening behind the scenes. One of the things we’re working on right now is progesterone testing. Rather than simply counting days, we monitor progesterone levels to help determine when ovulation is occurring and when the timing is right for breeding. We work closely with our reproduction specialist, who is about two hours away, and depending on the female and where she is in her cycle, that can mean making the trip or doing daily blood draws here at home using our own testing machine so we can closely follow her levels. For us, breeding is not guesswork. It’s science, reproduction, genetics, health, structure and careful planning all coming together. The puppies are the part everyone gets to see.
